Check back throughout the week as this column is updated with each respective writer’s picks as they roll out.
Zach’s Top RB: LeSean McCoy
Running back is kind of ugly this week. The top rushers all have tough match ups and the value plays all have question marks. I will be playing whichever Bengals running back is in line to get the most touches but I just don’t know enough about Jeremy Hill’s injury to recommend him or Gio right now.
Enter in my second running back of the week Mr. McCoy. If you read us at all in the preseason you would know I was super high on McCoy and he is showing why now that he is healthy. He has at least 9 fantasy points in every game he has played this season and 4 straight with at least 15. He is an every down back that does not come of the field and can add points in the passing game. The Texans have been a great defense over the past 3 weeks against the run but McCoy showed last week match up doesn’t really matter with him. I am going to be playing McCoy in cash at his very reasonable price.
I also really like C.J. Anderson if he is going to get the bulk of carriers for the Broncos once again this week.
Brad’s Top RB:
Jared’s Top RB: Doug Martin
The Falcons are giving up the third most points to opposing RBs over the last 3 weeks and are on the road this week taking on Tampa Bay. Earlier this year, Martin had a decent game against Atlanta with 78 total yards, but has been a far more effective runner the last couple weeks with almost 350 yards on 42 touches which indicates he’s hitting his stride at a time to consider increasing DFS exposure. He has big play ability as evidence by runs of 56 and 84 in his last 2 (at PHI, at IND) and is reasonably priced in an excellent matchup. I like him quite a bit for a mid-range RB this week. I’m targeting 100 total yards and a score from him in this game.
Matt’s Top RB: Jonathan Stewart
He may anchor the majority, if not all, of my cash game lineups. Why? The Panthers travel to New Orleans this week and face a run defense that’s allowed the 2nd most points to running backs. Ultimately, this is going to turn into a game where the Panthers are going to need to decide if they are going to run it up through the air or on the ground, because they are horrible in both facets. Just this week, the much maligned Alfred freakin Blue had a nice day against the Saints running attack, finishing with 16 carries for 77 yards and a score, coupled with the fact that the Texans ran the ball 38 times for 167 yards. Stewart is the #11 most expensive QB on FanDuel this week and is a great option to save cash with a high floor.
